Sotheby’s Annual Treasures Sale: Spanning 2000 Years of Art History {Video}

Spanning 2000 years of art history and formed over several centuries, the collection of the Dukes of Northumberland, from Syon House and their primary residence Alwnick Castle, is one of the great British collections.

Sotheby’s annual Treasures Sale is renowned for its museum-like curated presentation of rare and important works of art. Treasures 2014 will include extraordinary pieces sold by order of the 12th Duke of Northumberland and the Trustees of the Northumberland Estates. A highlight from this collection is a Roman antique statue of Aphrodite dating from the 1st century AD. Alongside this work is an impressive ensemble of furniture, Kunstkammer and decorative arts, each boasting a unique legacy and place in history.
