In this video about the Fort Worth, Texas magazine 2014 Holiday Home, designer Ann Karol talks about her favorite design elements and spaces with Design Worth Doing editor Amy Walton.
Her fave space is the great room, a “very warm and masculine” space with beamed ceiling.
“I really just wanted to do something different that people don’t see in a store or see every day and get ideas to do on their own,” Karol says.
The centerpiece of the design is the rustic Christmas tree, adorned with peacock and pheasant feathers, handmade ornaments including pheasants fashioned from pinecones, tree bark, and antlers from the Yancey Ranch in Texas.
“I love the rustic look,” Karol says.
The rustic theme carries into the breakfast room, which features cowboy décor.
The home is 9472 Sagrada Park, in Montserrat.
It will be open for touring through Sunday, Nov. 23. Hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets cost $10.
Ticket sales benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth. This first-ever home tour features the area’s top designers, who will turn this 8,500-square-foot, two-story, five-bedroom, six-bath, French provincial home in the prestigious Montserrat development into a Christmas holiday idea house.
