Many women faced with an unplanned pregnancy feel hopeless – as if they have no options. “While working at Thrive Pregnancy Resource Center, I noticed many women weren’t considering adoption,” said Ellen Porter, founder of BraveLove, a hub for adoption stories and education that works to remove the stigma of adoption.
For Porter, adoption isn’t just a job; it’s quite literally her way of life. With two biological and two internationally adopted children, Porter knows “the beauty adoption brings.”
“At BraveLove we champion mothers who have made this tough choice and show the world, through people’s stories, that adoption is a beautiful, brave and loving choice,” said Porter.
If nothing more, BraveLove is an opportunity for the birth mothers, who often feel unheard, to have a voice, said Porter. “My heart goes out to the mothers who carried my babies. I know I may never meet them, but I want them to know their children are beloved.” bravelove.org
This month, we are pleased to shine the light on many of the servant leaders making our community better and stronger. And we do this not just also to thank them, but to inspire others to roll up their sleeves and help in some way. To learn more about #LiveToGiveThisHoliday, click here.
