Downtown Dallas isn’t just for adults. There’s plenty for kids to do, too.

From the incredible Perot Museum to Klyde Warren Park’s playground and food trucks, Robbie and Nancy Briggs share a whole lot of fun with their grandkids Zoe and Micah.

Robbie Briggs, President and CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, immersed himself in Downtown Dallas living last week. He was hosted by Museum Tower. You Asked, We Answer – What’s It Like to Live Downtown?

02/21/2014

As we’ve followed Robbie Briggs as he Lives Downtown Dallas, we asked you to join the conversation by asking questions and giving your take on the Downtown Dallas lifestyle.

Here’s what you asked:

Can you have pets? Great Dane in particular?

Yes, pets are welcome, but no more than two per residence and no fighting breeds are allowed. For the furry members of your family, Museum Tower has an on-site dog park and accommodations for pet grooming.

Is there a resident chef at Museum Tower?

While there is no resident chef, the Director of Resident Relations can arrange for a private chef should a resident request one. It makes for much easier party planning, as we found out Thursday night!

Does a parking place come with a residence?

Yes! Depending on the residence size, there are two to three parking spots per home. And don’t forget valet service to help with parking.

Who is the architect?

Scott Johnson, FAIA, of Los Angeles-based Johnson Fain, designed the building. His other projects include Opus One Winery in Napa Valley, MGM Tower in Los Angeles, Leo Palace Resort in the Mariana Islands and San Francisco’s Rincon Center.

Did he also design the Hunt Oil Tower?

That’s also a beautiful building – but not one designed by Scott Johnson.

How often are the windows cleaned? … Beautiful building!

The windows are cleaned multiple times a year on a regular basis. You need a crystal-clear view of the skyline, the sunrise, the sunset and the comings and goings in the Dallas Arts District, right?

Robbie Briggs’ Friday in Downtown Dallas started bright and early, with a slow cup of coffee and the Wall Street Journal enjoyed in Museum Tower’s chic lounge.
At 9, Robbie held a VIP business meeting in one of the building’s high-tech conference rooms. Everything needed for his meeting was provided: blazing-fast WIFI, computers, office supplies, and a one-of-a-kind view of the beautiful Dallas Arts District.

What’s It Like to Live in a Downtown Dallas High Rise?

02/20/2014

For the past few years, I have watched Downtown come to life. It’s exciting, and we at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty have been sharing that excitement by introducing our clients to great high-rise living in Downtown.

But showing a home and living it are two different things. I got to thinking, what’s it like to live in one of Downtown Dallas’s new luxury high rises? What’s it like for a concierge to help arrange to have groceries delivered each week? Or to have the elevator drop you off right in your home?

So for the next few days my wife, Nancy, and I are going to Live High Rise. We are being hosted by Museum Tower, right in the heart of the Dallas Arts District. We’ll get a new perspective of the Dallas skyline and the great green expanse of Klyde Warren Park, a fantastic place to spend time with family.

We have a great weekend planned, starting with cocktails on the terrace with great views of the city. Then, the Museum Tower staff is helping us plan a catered dinner in our home there. Our grandchildren will visit the next afternoon, along with our son Ben and his wife, and we’ll take in Klyde Warren Park, visit the Perot Museum and have a cookout on the terrace.

We’ve got the entertainment covered.

But, as a businessman, I’ve also wondered how high-rise living could support my work. So I have arranged to meet with some international investors in the building’s boardroom – one of the many unique amenities of high rise living. It will be an interesting way to introduce potential clients to our city.

You can share the experience with us by watching videos, reading posts, and seeing great photos from my website http://robbiebriggs.com/livehighrise. If you have questions or comments, text them to 82257. I’ll be posting my replies on #livehighrise, so make sure you keep checking for updates. (Just search #livehighrise to see them.)

I’m so excited to experience what it’s like to live High Rise in Downtown. Nancy and I can’t wait to wake up to the city.

Luxury High-Rises Let You Reach for the Sky in Uptown, Downtown, Turtle Creek

01/10/2014

This condo at 2900 Mckinnon Street #2900 – on the 29th floor of the Azure – has breathtaking views of Downtown Dallas and the entire Dallas skyline. Listed for $3,150,000. Photo / Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realt

High-rise living is not a new concept, yet more and more Dallasites, both home grown and transplants, are opting for breathtaking tree-top neighborhoods where the size of the view is more important than the size of the yard. Last year the comfort, amenities and convenience of downtown living added up to a 67 percent increase in sales volume (condominiums in Area 17 and listed in MLS) over the same period in 2012.

Many of these new urban dwellers are drawn to the wraparound views, the convenience of walking to work, the proximity to arts, dining and entertainment. Others want the flexibility of a lock-and-leave lifestyle and luxury amenities that range from pools and fitness centers to spa services and fabulous event planning.

Click here to see the possibilities.
